Tips for cleaning and preserving your vintage french mirror

First of all, make sure that the mirror is free from any dust or dirt. Once you’ve cleaned it, use a soft cloth to gently wipe away any excess dirt or dust. If there are any spots that stubbornly refuse to come off, use a household cleaner like ammonia or lukewarm water and a cloth to scrub the surface until the spot comes clean. Finally, dry the mirror with a soft cloth before storing it away. Here are a few tips for cleaning and preserving your vintage french mirror:

1. Clean the surface with a soft cloth and mild soap.

2. If the mirror has built-in mounts, remove them and clean the surface of the glass using a gentle brush and lukewarm water. If you want to know more about Vintage french mirrors,  you can visit Helen storey antiques.

3. Dry the surface of the mirror with a soft cloth before re-installing the mounts.

4. If there is tarnish on the mirror, use a silver polish to remove it gently by hand or with a polishing cloth. Be sure to avoid aggressive polishing which can damage the surface of the mirror.

Another thing that you should keep in mind when cleaning vintage French mirrors is their frame. In order to avoid scratching the surface of the glass, be gentle when removing the mirror from its frame. Also, be sure not to get any liquid onto the glass; dry your hands thoroughly before handling the mirror again.
